Doctor of Theology
Oleg Melnychuk – Archpriest, Doctor of Theology, representative of the UOC to the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Affairs.
Born on November 19, 1979 in the village of Novyi Kokoriv, Kremenets district, Ternopil region.
1994 – Graduated from Novokokoriv secondary school with honors.
1994–1996 – Studied at Kremenets Lyceum.
1996 – Entered the Kyiv Theological Seminary.
2000 – Ordained as deacon and entered the Kyiv Theological Academy.
2001 – Ordained as priest and appointed rector of the church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God «Helper in Childbirth» in Kyiv.
2004 – Defended his candidate dissertation «The Kremenets Theophany Monastery in the Context of the History of Orthodoxy in Ukraine» at the Kyiv Theological Academy, Candidate of Theology.
2005 – The Uzhhorod Ukrainian Theological Academy awarded the degree of Doctor of Theology.
2005 – Founded and headed the charitable organization «Mother and Child». The developed program for the protection of motherhood and childhood became state policy.
2007 – Elevated to the rank of Archpriest by the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
2008 – Appointed rector of the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God in the Pechersk district of Kyiv.
2009 – Appointed Head of the Family Affairs Department of the Kyiv Diocese of the UOC.
2009 – Appointed Representative of the UOC to the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Affairs.
2007–2013 – Studies at the Law Faculty of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
2013 – Entered the postgraduate program at the Department of Theory of Law and State.
2017 – Received the degree of Candidate of Legal Sciences. Dissertation topic: «Theoretical and Legal Analysis of the Activities of Religious Organizations in a Democratic State».
Areas of interest: models of church-state relations, theory of law and state, cooperation with public and state institutions, mass media.
Author of a monograph and over 20 scientific works. Editor-in-chief of the «Kupol» media holding.
Awarded with the Gratitude of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for many years of conscientious work and personal contribution to the social and legal protection of minors, as well as orders of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
